"Morrissey’s a great lyricist, but there’s a tone in his voice I find unlistenable. That kind of lugubrious tone. There’s the same tone in my voice, actually, and I find it equally unlistenable."

Vegan Logic: When you gave a concert in 2006 in Istanbul, you got on stage and saluted the crowd by saying “Zeki Müren!” It was a nice surprise for us, but nobody knows why you said that. How familiar are you with his music?
Morrissey: Not very.  He was introduced to me by an old friend (James Maker), and I found his style to be quite funny and soothing, and it interested me that such a traditionally macho culture could adopt a Zeki Müren without much fuss.

Viva Hate is about Daniel, an avid Morrissey admirer, who starts the band Viva Hate to get recognition from the world, but mainly from his mum who only cares for his older brother Tommy. Tommy, a petty thief, is his mothers lovechild as opposed to Daniel who is “just the result of a one-night-stand”. As Daniel becomes a sort of rockstar, gets entangled in his brothers criminal life and finds his true love Fanny, the story explodes in music and action and Daniel finds out what really matters in life.

veganlogicdinamo interviews Morrissey

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions. It’s a big honour for me. I’m not going to ask you anything about the Harvest drama because you already explained it perfectly. Most people…

Day: 1145

Shirt: Morrissey - Robert Wagner & Jeffery Hunter Maladjusted US Tour 1992

Color:  Blue Ringer

Brand: JSR Merchandising

Source: I think this image is kinda hilarious, and the fact that Morrissey made it his backdrop for the Maladjusted tour is even funnier and shows he does have a sense of humor.

I very distingly remember this tour.  i do remember it wasn’t selling all that well, and for some reason Morrissey decided to play this show in Petaluma, CA at the Phoenix Theatre of all places. a place where i have seen NOFX, Green Day, Lagwagon, Monsula, Down By Law, No Use For A Name… and Morrissey.  My friend told me about it day of and we got in and it was a really memorable show.  i remember this was the first kind of small environment i would see this guy in.  So up until this point it was arenas only, and this show was kind mind blowing.  look at this set list..

Set List

It should be Noted at this point that my fav Moz Record is Southpaw Grammar.  not a big favorite for the masses but to me i was really into Morrissey’s “Rock” album.  so this show was a total slam dunk for me.  did i get this shirt there?  no for some reason i went through a phase when i was younger like “I  Have too many shirts” so i would pass them up.  fucking moron.  i regret it all the time when i see stuff that i passed up.  luckily for me there is a follower on my Insta who is a fan of my stuff i will make on occasion and he was kind enough to part with a few items that didn’t fit him in exchange for a a few, well a lot of new pieces.  i sent him a giant box, but i am more than happy to.  it was a great trade, and now i have this shirt finally.  all be it a ringer, but one can hope to find a non ringer one day.  i finally did for my SDRE diary shirt so you never know!

anyways.  so glad to have this shirt in my possession.  i will love it long time.  and i still think Maladjusted is a fucking great album, the original not the weirdly sequenced 2009 reissue.
